Mabel Au-Yeung

Brand management and media consultant

Your wardrobe staple?

Multiple sporty tops, great-cut jeans and an ample collection of trainers to anchor the look.

What do you look best in?

A form-fitting silhouette, as in a short-fitted jacket worn with jeans or an above-the-knee skirt.

Favourite fashion designers for this season?

I like the new proportions and modernity of Balenciaga; the romantic realism at Rochas; the glam rock look at Gucci; the sharpness and chicness of YSL; the memorable trench coats at Jean Paul Gaultier; and the cool playfulness of Emporio Armani.

Leggings or wide trousers?

Leggings - to show off good legs. Wide trousers look dumpy on the height-challenged.

Accessories you can't do without?

My credit cards. Otherwise, Tina Barrat's one-of-a-kind jewellery.

Your winter colour(s)?

Gold and more gold. Accented with black to tone it down. Purple is another favourite.

Fashion no-nos?

The 70s Lycra look, which looks hideous on anyone.

Handbag pick for this season?

Anything but an 'it' bag. Why follow the crowd?

Favourite fragrance?

I only wear Chanel No19 to bed.

Who would design your Oscar dress?

Who else but Oscar de la Renta. He's the red carpet maestro.

Style icon?

Audrey Hepburn for her timeless style. She looked great dressed up or down.

Boho or lady-like?

Neither. My style leans towards casual chic or high glam.

Flats or stilettos?

Depends on my partner's height. However, you'll find me running around in flats on any given day.

Fashion disaster?

None, only hair disasters when it's not done by Kim Robinson. I once sported bleached streaks and an Afro.
