Parkinson's rate to soar in China
The number of people affected by Parkinson's disease in the largest nations is set to double in the next 25 years, with the fastest growth in Asia and particularly China. Age is a key factor in the nervous-system disease, AFP reports, especially among people over 65. Parkinson's sufferers in the 15 biggest countries will grow to 8.7 million by 2030, from 4.1 million currently - with five million of those in China, according to analysis by the University of Rochester (New York).
