Courier needs an executive who can deliver the goods

Candidate must be fluent in Japanese and English because the focus is on Japan firms overseas

If you want a career where you can get ahead, look no further. FedEx Express needs a Japan route development executive to help implement and execute sales directives and update strategy execution.

The role also requires co-ordinating activities assigned to Japanese company accounts based in Hong Kong and Southern China, mainly with its worldwide sales team.

'We need a professional who can speak and think from the perspective of our Japanese customers in Hong Kong and Southern China, so we can meet the needs of these customers,' said Clifton Chua, managing director, FedEx Hong Kong, Macau and the Philippines.

Other duties include selling FedEx services, recommending total solutions, resolving customer issues, and collecting and analysing customer feedback.

'The position is important because many Japanese enterprises have set up district offices in Hong Kong and these are potential FedEx customers,' Mr Chua said. 'We therefore need a dedicated person to take care of their needs for reliable and timely express services.'

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least five years of working experience in commercial and industrial sales. A proven track record in achieving major account sales goals and executive sales strategies is required.

The candidate must be fluent in written and spoken English and Japanese.

Personality is important for this role, and FedEx is looking for someone with an outgoing personality with a 'people first' attitude. The person must have a strong sense of timing and be an agent of change, because 'we compete with time everyday and we face many changes and challenges every minute', Mr Chua said.

Someone with good communication skills and a logical mind with a commitment to make every customer experience outstanding will exceed in this role.

'On top of this, it is vital for applicants to be team players and understand the larger picture of what they are doing and how it affects the service we deliver to our customers,' he said. 'They also need to be resourceful in finding creative solutions to unexpected challenges with the support of their teams.'

Mr Chua said joining FedEx would be a wise career move.

'The position enables the candidate to develop sales and communication skills from customers who are from other nations. That in turn provides him or her with a strong competitive advantage for future career development.'

FedEx believes in nurturing talent, and to this end provides comprehensive training. 'We have a tradition of developing our employees to their highest potential and of promoting first-line managers from within. As a result, we offer employees a lifelong learning environment that encourages career progression.'
