70,000 boxes of tablets recalled

Some 70,000 boxes of a US-made drug for patients with hepatitis B are being recalled because they carry the wrong registration number.

Twelve batches of Baraclude - registration number HK-55152 - were imported by Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharma (HK) Ltd. Each box contains three strips of 10 0.5mg tablets. But the number on the strips are wrongly printed as HK-55153.

A health department spokesman said the issue did not involve safety.
