First, let me apologise to Tony for changing his story quite as much as I have. 
Tony clearly wanted to give us a fairly realistic description of a principal's working day, and he did that very well.
On the other hand,  the sort of new events I've included in my version are, of course, either slightly or completely ridiculous. That's because I not only wanted to have a little more going on during this special day, I also wanted to try to add some more humour to the story. Similarly, your choice of events and characters can change the tone of any story you write. Including a mysterious murder in  A Very Busy Day, for example, would obviously take it down a different road entirely.
 I've also tried to link events together a little more. Now the main character has to make some decisions and then face the consequences.
Unfortunately, in my efforts to keep the story from becoming too long,  I think it feels slightly rushed.
