The best places to eat and sleep in style

Nowadays you can eat fabulously, enjoy exciting design and sleep like a king all in the same place.

The Zetter Hotel and The Zetter Townhouse

Zetter Hotel: St John's Square, 86-88 Clerkenwell Road, London EC1M 5RJ; www.thezetter.com

Zetter Townhouse: www.thezettertownhouse.com

The much-loved Zetter Hotel in trendy Clerkenwell has just opened a new branch in a Georgian townhouse across the square. It is just as cool as its sister property (the Zetter), though smaller and featuring a more eccentric and boldly colourful take on the vintage modern vibe. Most appealing is its ground floor cocktail bar run by master London mixologist Tony Conigliaro of 69 Colebrooke Row fame (www.69colebrookerow.com). For dinner, head over to the Zetter and its vibrant bistro that is beloved by diners and critics alike.

Boundary

British design supremo Terence Conran converted this Victorian warehouse and created the Boundary Project in Shoreditch in 2009. Made up of a sumptuous hotel, an elegant Anglo-French restaurant in the basement, a grill and bar on the roof and a British brasserie and bakery on the ground floor, it buzzes throughout the day.

Shoreditch House

Shoreditch House (part of the Soho House group) is a private members' club in achingly hip Shoreditch with a rooftop pool, two restaurants, a gym, a spa, a bowling alley and - since 2010 - 26 bedrooms that channel a strong urban cabana vibe. Members get preferential rates, but ordinary people can also stay and live the Shoreditch high life.
