Trump derangement syndrome: both sad and frightening

Your reader Paul Bloustein gleefully declares himself to be one of greatest cynics in the cosmos, and says he has dedicated the past three years of his life to exposing the dishonesty of Donald Trump (“Mueller is draining the swamp, one Trump lie at a time”, December 11). In my view, all Mr Bloustein has done is reveal himself to be perhaps the saddest example of “Trump derangement syndrome” ever.

He seems to have lost his focus, as Robert Mueller and the left have, regarding the raison d’être of the special council: Mueller is supposed to be investigating the collusion between the Russians and Trump that allegedly stole the 2016 presidential election. Almost two years into the investigation, with carte blanche from the Department of Justice, all he has is several Trump associates tripped up and charged mainly with tax fraud or lying, or with other crimes committed before they had any association with Trump. Both sad and frightening, to say the least.

A billionaire businessman financing his own campaign cannot possibly be guilty of illegal use of campaign funds. Unless you’re up against the “Deep State” and your name is Trump.
