The Catholic Church isn’t following the Bible on sex crimes and priest marriage

The Pope and bishops of the Catholic Church from around the world met for four days and accomplished nothing (“Pope likens child sex abuse to ‘human sacrifice’ at end of summit to stamp out paedophilia in Church”, February 24). The Bible in Leviticus 20:10-21 says those involved in sexual sins are to be put to death, not moved to another parish.

The Old and New Testaments are in agreement on this. Matthew 18:5-7 quotes Jesus saying it is better for someone to be cast into the sea than to hurt a child, as do Mark 9:42 and Luke 17:2. Romans 1:26-27 talks about sexual sinners and Romans 32 says they deserve death. Corinthians 10:6-8 also says this.

The Bible also refers to priests being married (Leviticus 21:7-8). Celibate priests will find an outlet for their desires and that’s the problem. Marriage would solve this problem.

If the church followed their holy book, the sex crimes would decrease significantly and the victims would get true closure.
