Growing health concerns, combined with increasing disposable income of consumers, are driving the rising adoption of smart toilets worldwide. A key player in this specialised market is home-grown South Korean company IZEN, whose main focus in the past 17 years has been to promote a healthier and more hygienic lifestyle through its innovative electronic bidet seats.

Incorporating advanced technology and high-quality engineering, IZEN’s electronic bidet seats are renowned for the revolutionary enema wash feature. A proprietary IZEN technology, the enema function delivers a deep cleansing wash to naturally ease constipation and prevent haemorrhoid formation. IZEN’s products are available under various brands in more than 30 countries with a strong focus in China and the United States.

“We realised early on that going global is key to achieving sustainable growth,” says Yoo Myung-jae, vice-chairman. “That’s why we’re one of the first Korean players to enter China and the US. We now intend to expand further by strengthening our business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customer relations.”

We attribute our competitive strengths in quality and product development to the know-how and experience we’ve accumulated as an OEM and ODM Yoo Myung-jae, vice-chairman

IZEN secured a medical device certificate from South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in 2005 and patented its innovative electronic bidets in China, Japan and the US. Equipped with its one-of-a-kind technologies and high-quality standards, IZEN strives to connect with more hospitals, nursing homes and rehabilitation centres. These partnerships will aid the company’s efforts to introduce more advanced functions, including a health check feature, to its smart toilets.

As an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and original design manufacturer (ODM), IZEN has been manufacturing for global brands such as Samsung Electronics, Bio Bidet and LIXIL. In Europe, IZEN is collaborating with Hornbach, a German do-it-yourself store chain. To further develop its B2B market, IZEN welcomes opportunities to team up with construction and real estate firms.

“We attribute our competitive strengths in quality and product development to the know-how and experience we’ve accumulated as an OEM and ODM,” Yoo says. “Our next goal is to push our own brand and build customer awareness.”
