Leading cable fittings provider AGRO eyes No 1 spot in China

In terms of cable glands or fittings, AGRO is the undisputed market leader in Switzerland. As the company strives to also become No 1 in China, more Chinese companies would be able to enjoy AGRO’s high product quality and excellent service.

“We expect a lot of growth from China, especially from its high-speed railway sector,” says CEO Jörg Fries. “We foresee the domestic demand for our products there to grow by as much as 20 per cent over the next several years.”

AGRO is the first company to come up with cable connectors for drinking water systems and clean rooms. With more than 50 patents to date, AGRO has invented perhaps the world’s safest cable connectors and accessories for electrical and industrial cable installations. Its cable fittings, for instance, can prevent condensation, fire or disturbances caused by electromagnetic waves.

AGRO’s customer service is similarly top-notch. Having a huge inventory and global distribution network enables the company to deliver a standard part within 24 hours while taking only a few days for a bespoke unit.

“We think in terms of solutions and our engineers collaborate with clients to develop the products they need,” Fries says. “This is also our approach in China.”

AGRO welcomes Chinese distributors that carry complementary products such as cables and clamps. On the longer term, the company eyes partnerships with local manufacturers to meet China’s upcoming increase in local content requirements for manufactured products.

“We should be the first company that comes to mind regarding cable entry issues,” Fries says. “We can serve Chinese companies with the same excellence and product quality that have made us No 1 in Switzerland.”
