A pioneer in polyimide (PI) film development and production in Taiwan, Taimide Tech (TMT) has gone from strength to strength in the past 18 years to become a leading global player in an industry where the barrier for entry is high.

To cope with rising PI film demand driven by its increasing use in consumer electronics and emerging applications with the advent of the internet of things (Iot) technology, phase two expansion of TMT’s manufacturing site at the Tongluo Science Park is well under way.

Two additional assembly lines, each with annual capacity of 600 tonnes, are being built along with a new research and development centre.

“With our sole focus on PI film, we’ve developed a strong technical background through the years,” comments Paul Wu, president. “We enjoy solid client relationships, anchored in the consistent delivery of high-quality products, fast development of innovative solutions and competitive pricing.”

TMT offers an optimised product portfolio that comprises various types of PI films, mainly for flexible printed circuit boards (FPCB) and graphite sheets.

These PI films fully meet the general requirements of numerous industrial applications while also featuring distinct attributes including high tensile strength, good dimensional stability, high temperature tolerance and high chemical resistance.

TMT is one of the few PI film suppliers to have successfully launched mass production and is relied on by an expanding clientele from Asia, Europe and the Americas. It maintains close client collaborations to create customised and market-leading solutions.

TMT is also open to providing technical support to other PI producers.

With the need for lighter and softer materials due to the Iot, TMT has been developing new types of ultra-thin PI films.

It is also creating specialised materials for niche applications in organic light-emitting diode (OLED) and micro-LED display panels.

“We’re an established name in FPCBs,” Wu says. “We now intend to become a key player in the display market and welcome strategic partnerships to further this initiative.”
