There are two parties in one night at Potato Head this year. Potato Head Bar is holding a tropical blowout with a three-hour open bar, set to disco and house beats from resident DJs.
If you’re more of an audiophile, the venue’s Music Room promises a disco countdown with Korean DJs Jesse You & Airbear, aka Downtown. Still going come sunrise? 2. Revolution New Year’s Eve Party
The Ashley Sutton-designed club has never been low on spectacle, and it’s ramping it up with a glitchy, neon-clad New Year’s Eve. Expect underground deep house and futuristic remixes from Fab D. Verse, Will Power and Miles Slater on the decks, and glowing dancers and kimono-clad techno ladies wafting through the crowd – there’s even a series of performances from 10pm. Come well-dressed.

3. Glitter & Gold New Year’s Eve Countdown Party
Ditch the cramped streets of Lan Kwai Fong for the open air at Vibes, the Mira Hong Kong hotel’s lounge. Tunes come courtesy of Cliché Records DJs, there will be a four-hour open bar, barbecue, live band and a champagne toast at midnight. The dress code is “Glitter & Gold.”. Get the squad together and book a cabana for 10, which comes with a few magnums of Moët to keep the party flowing.

Bloodest Saxophone will play at Foxglove on New Year’s Eve.
4. Midnight in Tokyo NYE featuring Bloodest Saxophone
The phenomenally named Bloodest Saxophone were such a hit last year that Foxglove is bringing the Japanese beboppers back once more to ring (or scat) in the New Year. Go for a five-course NYE dinner, or show up after dinner ready to swing into 2018. There will be an open bar including free-flow Japanese whiskey highballs and craft beer.

Zuma’s throwing a masquerade party for shogatsu – Japanese New Year – which conveniently falls on the same date. Expect free-flow Veuve Clicquot and Zuma’s signature bites, while DJ Lion provides live beats, alongside drum master Barnaby and John Campo on the trumpet. Show up in a mask for that added air of masquerade mystery – or perhaps some convenient anonymity.

8. Southside presents Paradise Garage
New York City disco the Paradise Garage – or just “the Garage” – was instrumental in the rise of the city’s house scene. Promoters Like Minded People, ROAM and FuFu have teamed up to take over the huge space at the bottom at Ovolo Southside, bringing a little slice of the Garage to Hong Kong. With Romain FX, MLCH and Fei Pao playing disco, funk and house beats, a three-hour open bar and a 2am breakfast to put a bow on the new year, it’s a warehouse rave done comfortably Hong Kong-style. Stockton keeps things suitably mysterious this year with the Forbidden Garden, a celebration of the hidden and the taboo. A four-hour free-flow package includes canapés and the bar’s classic (and dangerously potent) cocktails – old fashioneds, negronis, mojitos and Moscow mules for a punchy start to 2018. 10. Ho Lee Fook Karaoke Party
Ditch the plodding old rendition of “Auld Lang Syne” for something you can really belt out. New Year’s Eve at Ho Lee Fook begins with a dinner of seasonal specialities and long-standing favourites such as roast wagyu short ribs and the “Prawn toast x okonomiyaki” – before the entire basement transforms into one huge karaoke singalong/yell-off.
