DJ Archie, four, is officially a Guinness World Record holder as the world’s youngest DJ.

Hong Kong can now lay claim to being home to the world’s youngest DJ: four-year-old DJ Archie.

On March 30, young Archie Norbury completed an unassisted one-hour DJ set at the Bungalow club in Hong Kong’s Central district to secure the Guinness World Record for the world’s youngest nightclub DJ. The record was confirmed by Guinness on Wednesday this week.

Aged four years and 130 days at the time, he stole the crown from South Africa’s similarly named DJ Arch Jnr, who set the previous record in 2017 aged five years and 38 days.

The South China Morning Post caught up with Archie at home as he prepared for his world record attempt, and was on the dance floor when he made DJ history.

Born in Dubai to British parents, Archie moved to Hong Kong with his family about 18 months ago. After catching the DJ bug from his father, John, Archie started learning how to spin at the age of about 2½, and has already notched up appearances at festivals such as Boomtown in the UK and Clockenflap in Hong Kong.

Archie has previously jammed with some illustrious names from the British electronic music scene such as garage vocalist MC Neat and jungle duo the Ragga Twins. But when asked who his favourite DJ is, he replies: “Daddy.”
