Known for her signature protest T-shirts that first appeared in the 1980s, British designer Katharine Hamnett is reissuing six such designs in collaboration with online retailer matchesfashion.com

Sporting slogans such as Save the Bees, Choose Life, Women against War and Climate Control, the T-shirts are as current now as they were almost three decades ago.

The mix of sportswear and high fashion has been going strong for quite a while now and the latest label to jump on the bandwagon is Ports 1961.

The brand has been working with boxing company Everlast on a range of men’s basics that look as good at the gym as they do out on the town. Ports 1961 menswear creative director Milan Vukmirovic, who also shot the campaign, looked at ’80s street culture in New York when working on the line.

Not limited to bathing suits and beach apparel, the range includes polos, linen shirts, towels and rash guards, some of which are made with recycled nylon and organic cotton. It also features beach bags created in partnership with the Ethical Fashion Initiative’s Kenyan production hub.

Shiatzy Chen leisure line

Taiwanese designer Shiatzy Chen, known for her updated traditional Chinese garments that target a contemporary audience, is debuting an informal collection of clothing for him and her aimed at younger customers.

The range is made up of denim separates and T-shirts featuring galactic prints and relaxed silhouettes, and is available at the Shiatzy Chen online boutique.
