The Italian Tourist Board should seriously consider hiring Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The vibrant spring 2016 collection the design duo presented for Milan Fashion Week was a tour de force that drew inspiration from their favourite sites in Italy, Icons from the Leaning Tower of Pisa to Venetian gondolas, Rome and Portofino (where they have a home) were richly recreated in embroidery on dresses and coats.  An army of 70 Dolce girls nailed the designers' patriotism in a parade of silk shifts printed with vintage travel posters for the finale of this "Italia is Love" collection.

Wandering around Milan at the moment it is impossible to not trip over tourists, in town for the World Expo, taking selfies in front of the famous sites, or indeed the fashion crowd themselves, something the designers gently poked fun at by getting the models to take selfies on the catwalk and posting the images.

The collection featured Dolce & Gabbana signatures such as the '50s duster coat and romantic full skirts, the body-cinching black lace dresses, the '60s shifts and the Capri trouser suit all lavishly printed and embellished with flowers, tile prints and the aforementioned Italian icons. The girls toted decorative straw baskets and Dolce & Gabbana shopping bags and wore the brand's sought-after headphones trimmed with tiny fruits and flowers.
