Southern fried chicken, Cuban flavours, pop-up Thai dinners: Hong Kong menu specials
New York chef cooks Southern fare with Hong Kong pair, Bangkok restaurant Soul Food comes to SoHo for a week, and tastes of Havana come to Tsim Sha Tsui and Sai Wan Ho this month
Tin Lung Heen at The Ritz-Carlton in the International Commerce Centre, Kowloon, is serving the wines of Chateau Palmer on set lunch and set dinner menus until the end of July. The five-course lunch (HK$1,888 plus 10 per cent) and six-course dinner (HK$2,888 plus 10 per cent) include dishes of chilled crab claw and pumpkin marinated with jasmine, and pan-fried scallop with salmon roe, paired with the Chateau Genot Boulanger Clos du Cromin Meursault 2012; and roast French duck with honey and vintage tangerine peel with the Chateau Palmer 1995. Soul Food in Bangkok is collaborating with the Black Sheep restaurant group, and will have a pop-up from July 19-23 at 28-30 Elgin Street in SoHo (where Juhu Beach Club used to be). The dinners, which cost HK$488 plus 10 per cent, include dishes such as smoked duck larb and Burmese pork belly curry with pickled ginger and tamarind. Bookings: 3897 6666
Sarah Simmons of Birds & Bubbles in New York is doing a collaboration with Isono in Central. From July 18 to August 13, they’re offering a weekday three-course set lunch (HK$228 plus 10 per cent), weekend brunch (HK$268 plus 10 per cent) and six-course dinner (HK$498 plus 10 per cent, which includes a glass of champagne), with the meals featuring fried chicken. On August 1, Simmons will cook with Joshua Ng from Twins Kitchen and Jaime Nunez of Isono, for a six-course Southern food dinner (HK$598 plus 10 per cent), with dishes such as shrimp and grits; fried chicken; and benne seed tartlet with caramel.
