Newly opened Eiffel Bistro in Taikoo Shing – a tour de force with some French classics
No-frills restaurant in Taikoo Shing hits the spot with some Gallic favourites including perfectly cooked sole and addictive French fries
Eiffel Bistro, a new restaurant in Taikoo Shing, doesn’t do much to pay homage to Gustave Eiffel’s iconic Parisian tower beyond listing the measurements of it on the side of the menu. But it makes up for it with the food.
For a starter, we shared the oddly named warm goat cheese bricks with mixed leaves and cherry tomatoes (HK$128). It was a large portion of mixed greens, sliced cherry tomatoes with a pesto dressing and plenty of both fresh and deep-fried goat cheese. It’s hard to imagine one person finishing this on their own, but it was good to share.
We finished the meal with the delicious pistachio Paris-Brest (HK$78), a pretty wheel-shaped pastry with custard and icing sugar. We couldn’t really taste the pistachio flavour in the custard, which wasn’t too sweet. The plate was decorated with crushed nuts and large drops of thick chocolate sauce.
Service was pretty efficient thanks to the waiting staff using tablets to take our orders.
