Restaurant review: S-Yoco, Tin Hau (moved to Quarry Bay) - burgers and wraps

S-Yoco is a Taiwanese franchise chain best known for its breakfasts. The shop serves egg wraps and wholewheat burgers for lunch and dinner.

of Taiwan to Tin Hau's crowded cooked snack market. The small shop operates an open kitchen where young chefs prepare food to order. There are only five chairs outside, and although it can be uncomfortable to eat on the street in summer, the cheap prices and great quality make it well worth a visit.

We liked the egg wrap series (from HK$20 to HK$30 depending on the filling). The slightly chewy, aromatic wraps are flown in each week from Taiwan. They are stuffed with your choice of filling (ham, pork floss, cheese, corn, bacon or vegetables). Wraps come with one filling, but you can add another for an extra HK$5.

What makes these egg wraps taste so good is S-Yoco's sauce — a delicious blend of soy and crushed garlic.

Their wholewheat burgers are also worth a mention. We liked the CEO Deluxe (HK$40) with its thick beef patty. We also enjoyed the crisp, deep-fried golden prawn burger (HK$35). But we found the the veggie burger (HK$25) lacklustre and lacking in flavour.

We had the same complaint about the green onion pancake (HK$25). It tasted like a chapatti you would find at an Indian restaurant, but without the benefit of curry to go with it.

The restaurant recently moved to Tin Hau from its previous location in the Tsuen Wan industrial area. S-Yoco is a Taiwanese franchise chain best known for its breakfasts.

The egg wraps, burger bread and sauces are imported from Taiwan, but the stuffings are prepared in the Tin Hau kitchen.
