August meal deals in Hong Kong: a feast of fish and seafood

Tao Li restaurant at the New World Millennium in Tsim Sha Tsui has freshwater fish on the menu until the end of August. Guests can taste dishes of deep-fried marble goby in soy sauce; sautéed white eel with shallots and garlic in casserole; Shanghainese-style smoked fish; deep-fried mandarin fish with pine nuts and sweet sauce; and deep-fried minced Canton carp with preserved clam sauce. Cafe on the 1st at The Excelsior in Causeway Bay is featuring Thai and Vietnamese dishes on lunch and dinner buffets until the end of August. The selection includes satay; softshell crab curry; tom yum goong with prawns; Vietnamese beef noodle soup; and mango and coconut with sticky rice. The lunch buffet is HK$288 plus 10 per cent (HK$188 for children) Monday to Friday, and HK$308 (HK$208 for children) Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. Morgan McGlone of Belle's Hot Chicken in Melbourne will be guest chef at a pop-up dinner at Ho Lee Fook in Central on July 26. The event is HK$350 per person and includes southern fried chicken, Ho Lee Fook side dishes and beer. Doors open at 6pm and there are no reservations.

Cafe Causette at the Mandarin Oriental in Central is serving lobster and bubbles until the end of August. The dishes include lobster taco; Sichuan lobster; and lobster cake, which can be paired with a selection of champagnes. The lobster dishes are available à la carte, or on a two-course set with a glass of champagne (HK$428 plus 10 per cent) or a three-course set with a glass of champagne (HK$498). Bookings: 2825 4005.
