Vermicelli soup with white truffle at Akrame

The white truffle season ends soon, and several restaurants are serving the fungus while it lasts — probably from mid- to late-December.

At Akrame in Wan Chai, dishes include vermicelli soup with white truffle (above); and carpaccio of scallop with white truffle. Dishes are available on lunch and dinner set menus, with extra white truffle priced at HK$288 for five grams (at lunch) and HK$368 (for dinner). Bookings: 2528 5068

At DiVino in Central (tel: 2167 8883), DiVino Patio in Wan Chai (tel: 2877 3552) and Spasso in Tsim Sha Tsui (tel: 2730 8027), white truffle can be shaved onto any dish on the menu. They include 36-degree egg with Castelmagno cheese fondue (below, at DiVino); handmade tagliatelle with Occelli artisanal butter (DiVino Patio); and US beef tenderloin with rucola salad and artichokes in oil (Spasso).

At Gold guests can taste white truffle with flatbread with taleggio, pork trotters and chives; and soft Italian scrambled eggs with mushroom-flavoured toast. Bookings: 2869 9986

At Hugo's in Tsim Sha Tsui, white truffle is served with risotto with black trompettes, asparagus and parmesan shavings; and poached egg with potato purée and seasonal mushrooms. European game is also featured, including wild boar agnolotti; roasted partridge breast with confit leg and pickled onions; hare a la royale; and roast pheasant breast with chestnuts and sweet potato purée. SumoSushiSake returns to Hong Kong, this time at the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade. The event on December 13 features professional sumo wrestlers; food from restaurants such as Tiger Curry, 298 Nikuya Kitchen, Sugo Sushi and Tori Izakaya; and drinks such as sake, shochu and beer.
