FARE Japanese teppanyaki and sashimi.

AMBIENCE Japanese décor in dark wood, with plenty of bar seating around the teppanyaki grill, good for conversation with friends.

COST About HK$1,400 for an eight-course dinner set for two, including salad, a half-lobster, abalone, foie gras, beef, fried rice, vegetables, soup and dessert.

WHO TO BRING Family, friends, colleagues and small groups for celebrations.

TURN-ONS An amuse bouche of egg and foie gras steamed inside the egg shell was a nice surprise. Set menu items of lobster and abalone were freshly grilled and tender with a natural, delicious flavour. The grilled lobster head was used as a base for the miso soup, adding a distinctive flavour. Pan-seared foie gras on French bread was not too oily. Our serving chef was friendly and keen to ask for our individual preferences. On request, the chef can arrange the fried rice, ingredients and egg yolk into the shape of your favourite cartoon character - we asked for Doraemon.

TURN-OFFS Although the idea of grilling lobster and abalone alive might offend some people, you cannot beat the fresh flavour that results from the practice. The Australian wagyu beef was thinner than we expected, but diners can upgrade to a thicker cut for an additional charge.

DRINKS A selection of white and red wine, sake and beer is available.
