Hong Kong's second China Tang has opened in Harbour City. Designed by David Tang, the restaurant offers refined Chinese cuisine in an elegant setting, with a harbour view. With a bar and lounge to the left of the entrance and the restaurant to the right, Tang's signature plush carpets and bold colours abound.

The menu features cuisine from Guangdong, Jiangnan and Beijing and the dishes are exquisitely presented.

We started with the double-boiled almond soup with pig's lung and heart with greens (HK$98), which was tasty. Then we had the assorted cold dishes with four choices (HK$98, depending on combination), including shrimps with "far dew" wine and plum, which is especially appetising. An assorted dish of four that includes barbeque, seafood and Cantonese fare (HK$288) is popular too; we liked the chargrilled pork with chicken liver.

The baked pork chop rice with mashed tomato (HK$238) is only available in this outlet and is a favourite with diners. We also tried the wok-fried crystal prawns with lobster bisque (HK$328). The 110-150-gram tiger prawns have a firm texture.

We then went for the seasonal vegetables with crab coral, bamboo piths and pigeon egg (HK$288). Both the young mustard greens and the bamboo piths are tender with the seafood flavour from the crab coral. For dessert, we tried steamed dark sugar cane sponge cakes with honey (HK$39), green tea mochi filled with fresh mango (HK$39) and ground almond cream (HK$42).

A wide selection of wines is available from several hundred dollars a bottle to several thousand.
