Top Five: Bus Uncle Faves

KMB bus driver Ho Wing-Fu gives us his five favorite spots to get a quick breakfast or lunch.

1. Goubuli Xiaolongbao (G/F, Lai Hung Garden, Hung Shui Kiu, 2442-9808) “Goubuli literally means ‘even dogs won’t eat’em’. But this place is in fact quite well-known in the neighborhood. Its signature dish is the xiaolongbao, which is steamed minced beef dumplings. Sometimes I buy a quick late-night snack here when I work nightshift.”

2. India Gate Restaurant (No. 32, G/F, Trend Plaza, South Wing, Tuen Mun, 2618-7755) “My bus route stops at Tuen Mun, making this a convenient spot. I can’t say it’s the best Indian restaurant in town, but I really like their Beef Curry set lunch. It’s a bargain, too!”

3. Chilli N Spice Garden (LOT2289, Hung Shui Kiu, Tuen Mun, NT, 2473-0168) “My place to relax. Sometimes I go with my family for their pineapple-fried rice. It’s divine!”

4. Big Thumb (G/F, Trend Plaza, North Wing, Tuen Mun, 2440-4321) “My favorite breakfast place. I usually go for the Pumpkin Veggies Macaronis. It gives me energy for the day.”

5. Daniel’s Restaurant (No. 37-40, G/F, Trend Plaza, South Wing, Tuen Mun, 2451-2408) “We bus drivers like to hang out here for a chit-chat from time to time. It offers a wide range of afternoon tea, but what I like most is their Double Boiled Snow Frog with Coconut Cream. My wife says it’s good for one’s skin.”
