Beauty buzz

To make sure your beauty is at least skin deep, we've put a range of facial cleansers to the test.

L'Oréal's Go 360° Clean Deep Facial Cleanser (HK$89/178ml) is an oil-free face wash and make-up remover. The cleanser, which looks like liquid soap, should be gently massaged into wet skin with fingertips. For deeper cleansing, a little scrubbing pad - the "Scrublet" - is included. Rinse off with cool water. Make-up and oil is removed and skin feels slightly tingly after use, but also dry and tight. Available at the L'Oreal boutique in Langham Place, Mong Kok, and at all Mannings stores.

Origins' Plantscription Cleanser (HK$260/150ml) is an anti-ageing face wash. Massage a small amount into wet skin with fingertips. The wash has a thick, creamy texture and doesn't produce much foam but feels gentle and comforting. Rinse off with cool water. Skin feels clean, without any dryness, but should be used after a make-up remover at night. Available at all Origins stores and counters.

The Body Shop's Moisture White Shiso Foaming Facial Wash (HK$219/150ml) is a whitening cleansing mousse. Active ingredients include shiso, vitamin C, licorice and sesame seed oil. To apply, massage two to three pumps' worth into wet skin with fingertips. Wash off with cool water. The cleanser has a light texture and leaves skin feeling clean and stripped of oil. Can dry skin if too much is used or it's left on too long. No noticeable change to skin tone after one week's use. Available at all Body Shop stores.

Shu Uemura's Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil (HK$845/400ml) is a hydrating oil-based face cleanser. To apply, massage a generous amount into dry skin and rinse off with warm water. The oil has a light, silky texture and leaves the face feeling soft and plump. Great for sensitive or dry skin. Available at all Shu Uemura stores and counters.
