Behind the label: Era Ora

Natasha Kaye Whiffin

Earth After Rain scarf from Era Ora

Who founded it? Launched last year, Era Ora is the brainchild of Singaporean designer and amateur DJ Euny Lim. A modern-day nomad, Lim splits her time between Hong Kong, Singapore and London, and her collection of pocket squares and scarves should inspire anyone with the travel bug. Lim’s two new collections, Voyage and Atelier, make the label a definite one to watch for luxury accessory lovers.

Why we love it: it’s no secret that scarves are the weapon of choice for many a working gal battling Hong Kong’s steamy climate. Era Ora’s thought-provoking prints in vibrant colours and stunning fabrics should make the transition from street to office seamless and chic. Stylish but socially conscious? No worries. Lim’s stories of scouring and getting lost in the Cambodian countryside in search of local speciality silks settle the score on that front.

What we’d pick: the lightweight silk Europa Map scarf (right; HK$1,200) in royal blue and red worn with a simple white T-shirt dress would be perfect for the hot summer months. Alternatively, spice up your poolside look with the Earth After Rain scarf (top; also HK$1,200), in a graphic floral and ornate gold picture-frame pattern.

Where can you get it? Era Ora is available at Visionaire, 26 Gough Street, Central, tel: 2540 6868, and at www.gnossem.com.
