Men's fashion tips: Eton floral shirts, Maison Kitsune penny loafers

Abid Rahman prowls the racks and shelves to bring you the men's fashion highlights

New leaf The floral print was a big thing in menswear in summer 2015, but there's still snazzy remnants of the trend popping up this year. If flowers did it for you before there's no reason they can't do so again, so we recommend checking out shirtmaker Eton, which has a range of patterned shirts including a botanical denim shirt (above right; HK$2,390) and a floral-pattern number (above left; HK$2,690). In Hong Kong, Eton is available at Harvey Nichols, The Landmark.

Penny dreadfuls The goods has never been totally convinced by penny loafers. They, along with driving shoes, seem to be favoured by men called Chad or Brent who buy overpriced cocktails in sterile bars and talk about their expense accounts. Shudder. Still we're not ones to hold a grudge and Maison Kitsune may just have convinced us to give penny loafers a second chance with its spring-summer range that comes in a variety of colours (above; HK$3,680 a pair). Take that, Chad! In Hong Kong, Maison Kitsune is available at Kapok, 3 Sun Street, Wan Chai.

Shave our souls Woe betide the man who shaves with an electric razor. Just say no, kids. For a better, closer and classier shave, use a traditional razor and lather your face up with a badger-hair brush and proper shaving soap. London chemist and perfumer DR Harris has been making sure gentleman shave the right way since 1790 and we just adore its grooming range. Our picks are the four-piece shaving set (above left; HK$3,500) and the mahogany shaving bowl (above right; HK$360). In Hong Kong, DR Harris is available at Joyce Grooming, The Landmark, Central.

Blue funk Collaborations are still du jour but one of the more left-field link-ups we’ve come across is the special-edition Beats by Dre accessories made in conjunction with New York’s hippest retailer, Kith, and Paris’ uber cool Colette. Yes, they are both shops, not fashion labels. This limited collection of the Beats Pill+ speaker (above; HK$1,930) and the Powerbeats2 wireless earphones (right; also HK$1,930) is going to appeal to the global hipster shopper or people who just love the colour blue. Beats x Kith Colette is available at www.kithnyc.com.
