Princess Charlene rocks a fresh new look at she finally reunites with Prince Albert and children in South Africa, after 4 months away from Monaco – but will she ever return?

  • Princess Charlene of Monaco contracted an ear, nose and throat infection in May after a conservation trip to South Africa went awry, and she’s been stuck there since
  • Her husband Prince Albert is embroiled in a paternity scandal, but will cute family photos with Princess Gabrielle and Prince Jacques help quash divorce rumours?

Princess Charlene of Monaco has again moved to allay fears that she is splitting from her husband Prince Albert, despite a four-month hiatus from royal life while she reportedly recovers from multiple procedures after contracting an ear, nose and throat infection in May.

Albert and their children, Gabriella and Jacques, are currently in South Africa visiting as part of Charlene’s recovery. The visit follows a statement from the palace saying Charlene would undergo a four hour procedure in August under general anaesthetic.

In a show of unity, Charlene – who was raised in South Africa – posted pictures of herself with her family on Instagram. The images portray a happy crew, while the princess jokes about her daughter’s new fringe in one of the captions.

“Gabriella decided to give herself a haircut! Sorry my Bella I tried my best to fix it,” she wrote.

Paris Match reported that, despite the royal family standing firm about the medical emergency, Charlene had “no intention” of returning to Monaco. The French publication said that Charlene had even been looking for homes in Johannesburg.

But the palace and Charlene’s family and friends have denied this. Charlene has also spoken about how she misses her family, and certainly projects the image of a mother missing her children and a wife longing for her husband on Instagram.

But why is the reunion such a big deal?

Well, Charlene has been away from her family home in Monaco since May, sparking speculation there was trouble in paradise for the royal pair. She has categorically denied the rumours, with her sister in law, Chantell Wittstock, telling South Africa’s You magazine that the speculation is “100 per cent false”.

Still, the extended period away from her family has fuelled speculation about the state of her marriage. The couple was especially scrutinised after it was revealed that Albert would be forced to attend court proceedings due to an unnamed Brazilian woman claiming the prince had fathered her child in 2005. Albert has denied the claim.

Meanwhile, recent images of Charlene portray a fierce new look as she adds her voice to anti-poaching initiatives.

A return to royal life?

Charlene told You that she had a sinus lift and bone graft done in Europe earlier this year, and complications around that procedure prevented her from flying. In June, the family visited her and they went on safari together.

This latest procedure and visit from her family could mark the final stretch.

Charlene told South African radio station Talk Radio 702: “I cannot force healing, so I will be grounded in South Africa until the end of October. I cannot fly above three thousand metres otherwise I will have a problem with my ears,” the princess explained. “I feel well, I feel good. Obviously, it’s a waiting game for me.”
