Worth just under US$100 million on a bad day, Mukesh Ambani sure has his pick of where to stay in the world. Recently, there were reports that the 64-year-old businessman and his family would be relocating away from India to Stoke Park, London, after they bought a country club there. It has a golf course, 13 tennis courts and private gardens, and is a heritage property. However, his company Reliance said in a statement that such speculation was “baseless”.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Lakshmi Mittal has a net worth of US$21.4 billion – his extraordinary wealth coming from his US$53 billion steel and mining company, ArcelorMittal. The 71-year-old businessman is probably one of the most famous Indians to own homes in London, because of their locations. In 1996, he bought a lavish home on The Bishops Avenue, known as London’s “Billionaires’ Row”, for US$11 million, reports Insider. Nicknamed Summer Palace, the mansion has 12 bathrooms, six reception rooms, a basement with a pool, jacuzzi and steam room accessed by a glass lift.

He struggled to sell the house after building rights were given to a neighbouring mansion with luxury flats, which would allow neighbours to see into his garden, reports Insider. In July 2011, he finally sold Summer Palace for US$57 million.

The billionaire also bought a 15-bedroom town house on Kensington Palace Garden, a street known for housing embassies.

Carlton House Terrace, the London home owned by the Hinduja family, was described by Forbes in 2013 as a “US$500 million real estate masterpiece”. It is located in London’s Westminster area near Buckingham Palace and overlooks St. James’ Park. Apparently, the home is built on the site of the 18th century childhood home of King George IV and outside the entrance there is a statue of Queen Victoria.
