- Former Good Morning Britain host and Meghan Markle critic Piers Morgan welcomed the arrest of an online troll who made threats against him and his son, Spencer
- A sports journalist, Spencer was featured on The Rich Kids of Instagram page and is a Harry Potter fan who once made an appearance on GMB just to see Tom Felton
Journalist and former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan is known for his hard-hitting commentary. He often gets criticised, but one netizen took the hate a step further with a death threat.
British newspapers reported that a suspect who made death threats against Piers has been arrested this week after a six-month investigation. The troll wrote that Piers was a “marked man” and that no security measures could save him. Spencer, Piers’ eldest son, was also targeted, and was told he would “get it” if his dad didn’t.
Piers welcomed the reported arrest. “People think it’s perfectly OK to make death threats to public figures on social media but it’s not – there has to be a line drawn, especially when family members are targeted,” he told The Sun.
While Piers denounced the chilling messages, Spencer seemed unfazed about the situation. He even posted a snap of himself and his dad strolling along Beverly Hills on Instagram and captioned it: “Nice morning walk with the old boy. Sending our regards to this wronggun.”
So, who is Spencer, and what else do we know about him?
His lavish lifestyle
With his dad’s estimated net worth of US$20 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, it’s no surprise that Spencer is living the high life. Last year, he shared his holiday escapades, travelling to Antigua and Barbados – famous island destinations among celebrities.
More proof of his lavish lifestyle? In 2019, The Mirror reported he was featured on the Rich Kids of Instagram page with a picture of him puffing on a cigar and holding a glass of champagne on a private jet.
A prep school with royal connections
Spencer was educated in Thomas’s Battersea, the same prep school that Prince George currently attends. The Sun reported that the elite private institution costs £17,600 (around US$23,900) a year, and the crested uniform alone costs £340 (around US$460).
Poking fun at his royal connection, Spencer posted a picture of himself alongside Prince George’s school photo, captioning it: “That face you make when the future king thinks he’s got more swagger than you.”
Pals with Cristiano Ronaldo
Spencer, who is a sports journalist, shares a friendship with football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. In 2018, he even received a personal message from the football player and was invited to watch his match in Turin. Last year, he took a picture with Ronaldo and greeted him on his birthday.
Controversial like his dad
Like his father, Spencer is no stranger to controversy. In April 2020, he faced backlash for tweeting, “How can anyone complain about a 20 per cent salary reduction right now? Surely you are saving more than that from doing nothing anyway.”

He was deemed insensitive, and one user replied: “Wow. This tweet screams privilege.”
A rare appearance on GMB
In 2018, Spencer made a rare appearance on GMB. According to his dad, he only came since he heard that Tom Felton was going to be interviewed. As the camera panned over to Spencer, Piers then asked his son to reveal his Harry Potter tattoo on his arm. Tom waved at him and remarked, “He has great taste”.
