Sasha Spielberg, the daughter of Hollywood auteur Steven Spielberg, recently announced her engagement to Harry McNally, her partner of one year. Sasha, 31, uploaded a series of photos on Instagram showing off her dazzling engagement ring along with a tender picture of herself with her fiancé next to a Christmas tree. She wrote in the caption, “Unbeknown to Harry, my dad was secretly filming. Classic.”

A singer, actress and painter
Born in Los Angeles to Steven Spielberg and actress Kate Capshaw, Sasha graduated from Brown University where she studied literary arts.
She then started an indie folk rock band named Wardell with her brother Theo Spielberg in 2013. She told WWD that she suffered from stage fright in the beginning but found solace in music during her university years.
She also performs as a solo artist under the moniker Buzzy Lee. Her new album titled “Spoiled Love” was released in 2021.
Apart from music, she is also an aspiring actress and a talented painter who often shares her work on Instagram.
She’s “afraid” of her last name

In an interview with WWD, Sasha confessed that she was afraid of her last name as it led to a deep sense of impostor syndrome. “I felt like I’ve had to prove myself forever, and that’s why I can put myself down and why I constantly do.”
The artist also shared why she chose to use her stage name, Buzzy Lee. “Well, Spielberg’s sort of taken. I obviously am constantly trying to hide from that, the last name. In pharmacy lines, in TSA, I feel like I’m constantly avoiding the name.”

The multifaceted Sasha has also dabbled in acting. Her first credit was in 1999’s The Love Letter where she starred opposite her mum. She’s also appeared in four of her father’s films: The Terminal (2004), Munich (2005), Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) and The Post (2017) in small, supporting roles. She was last seen in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza (2021).
Not only that, she has also written, produced and starred in Snapchat’s first mobile series Literally Can’t Even in 2015. In Hollywood, Sasha is good friends with actress Zooey Deschanel and Emma Roberts, with the latter often appearing in her Instagram posts as well.

The lovebirds started dating in November 2020 and, after their engagement, Sasha shared on Instagram a snapshot of her diary entry that she wrote after their first date, where she wrote, “I’m gonna marry Harry”.
She told Black Book Magazine that she went through a break-up during the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, but “then I met truly the love of my life [who] I’m with now”.

The couple began dating in November 2020. “The intimacy of getting to know someone during Covid, and I hope it’s the same intimacy getting to know a record, that’s what it’s been like for me. You have no distractions. There’s nothing around you except that person,” she said, according to Black Book Magazine.
As reported by Insider, her engagement ring cost around US$150,000 for its “round, brilliant-cut centre diamond”.
Her fiancé is a restaurant heir, musician and director

The son of famous restaurateur Keith McNally, Harry is also as multifaceted as his fiancé. According to Vanity Fair, he manages one of his parents’ restaurants, The Odeon, and he’s also a musician who has directed music videos for the likes of Selena Gomez. The couple also worked together when Sasha credited him as the visualizer for her song High On You, as well as directed her Tiny Desk concert for NPR last summer.
