Take out the popcorn, sit back and relax – Netflix’s Single’s Inferno is back with a new group of singles ready to mingle, once again!
The hit Korean reality TV dating show follows a cast of nine flirtatious and attractive men and women stranded on “Inferno”, a secluded island.
If any two contestants match and hit it off, they are whisked away to “Paradise”, spending a night in a luxurious hotel where they can get to know each other better with the chances of further sparking the connection.
According to Kim Jae-won, the show’s producer, this season features two more episodes than its previous one, to add depth to the contestants’ narratives, The Korea Times reported.
Among the hotties who stood out was Nadine Lee. Fans were immediately hooked when she switched from Korean to English as she introduced herself. She entered the show to make special memories and step outside her comfort zone, she said. The beauty also revealed she played football and lacrosse in high school and university.
So, what else do we know about this up-and-coming Korean reality TV star?
Nadine Lee: the definition of beauty and brains
Lee was born in New York and grew up between Englewood, New Jersey, Seoul and Marin County, California, per Bustle.
While Single’s Inferno may be Lee’s claim to fame, she previously got recognition for her viral university acceptance reaction video. In the YouTube clip, viewers watch as she opens and aces her applications, getting into Harvard, Princeton and Yale.
Her LinkedIn account states she’s attending Harvard, majoring in neuroscience with a secondary concentration in computer science. She’s set to graduate in 2023.
She is also a research assistant/project manager at Harvard Medical School and serves as the internal relations executive director of Synapse National.
How did she get into Harvard?
In 2018, Lee was interviewed by The New York Times about a lawsuit challenging Harvard’s admission process, with the accusation that Asian-Americans are held to a higher standard than any other group.
She told the publication that she assumed she would face discrimination applying to university. So, she said, to stand out from her peers, Lee applied to the United States Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps. She highlighted her enthusiasm for the military and her ambition to become a trauma surgeon.
The secret to a good university application
Lee, 22, also went viral on YouTube for sharing her tips on how to ace university admissions. In the video, she stresses that beyond grades and achievements, one must have a meaningful vision and an aptitude for learning.
At the end, she credits her Latin teacher Atticus for teaching her the value of human connection and community: “He wanted me to see life beyond just what’s in front of me and try to think more about my decisions.” The video has 2.5 million views as of writing.
Family vlogs
Lee’s viral videos are actually posted on @nimo_fam, her mum’s YouTube channel. Her mum’s name is Kim Hee-jin but she refers to herself as NiMo, which are the initials of her daughters, Nadine and Isabelle, according to one of her introduction videos on the channel.
Fashion seems to be right up Lee’s alley too. In one vlog, Lee goes shopping for Chloé bags with her mum.
In another, Kim talks about vintage luxury designer pieces she owns and explains the history of each item. In the video, Lee wears her mum’s Prada shorts and jacket.
“The total package”
Given Lee’s impressive achievements, viewers quickly became smitten with her. A Twitter user praised her for being “the total package” and another wrote that Lee is “her girl for this season”.
