Stylish trunk for FIFA World Cup Russia trophy is released by Louis Vuitton

The winning soccer team of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia will not only take home the much-coveted trophy, but will also receive a state-of-art trunk to carry it away in, produced by Louis Vuitton.

Let’s be honest, the FIFA World Cup trophy probably needs its own security detail – not only because of its prestigious significance, but also because of its material value – it’s crafted from about 6.2kg of 18ct gold and malachite.

The French luxury maison is an official FIFA World Cup partner, and has been commissioned since 2010 to create trunks that are used to transport the World Cup football trophy safely and in style. For the upcoming 2018 tournament in Russia, Louis Vuitton has updated its trophy travel case with new innovations.

Produced in Asnieres – home to the brand’s historic workshops – in France, the case is crafted in titanium, which is laser-engraved with the Louis Vuitton monogram.

Lightweight but also durable, the case features natural cowhide leather-wrapped corners, a lock, and clasps rendered in ruthenium.

The trophy and its case will be on display before the opening match of the FIFA World Cup Russia on June 14. The trophy will be presented after the final in Moscow on July 15.
