Another Me actor Connor Leong takes a front row seat at Givenchy’s men’s show in Florence
Creative director Claire Waight Keller’s spring/summer collection plays with nuances of light and shade, as well as the coalescence of Old World aesthetics with contemporary forms
EVENT: Givenchy men’s spring/summer 2020 show
WHERE: Villa Palmieri, Florence
HAPPENINGS: Creative director Claire Waight Keller unveiled Givenchy men’s spring/summer 2020 ready-to-wear collection in the green labyrinth gardens of Villa Palmieri.
Front row seats featured international actors, including Darren Criss, from Glee; Star Trek’s Zachary Quinto; Mena Massoud, who starred in Disney’s 2019 live-action remake of Aladdin; Chinese actor and model Liang Jingkang, also known as Connor Leong; and Japanese stars Masanobu Ando and Naomi Watanabe.
London DJ and producer Jodie Harsh and Canadian singer Henry Lau were also there.
The new collection plays with the idea of chiaroscuro, or nuances of light and shade, as well as the coalescence of Old World aesthetics with contemporary forms.
The colour palette was naturally muted, with soft jackets in damask rose and buttermilk or outfits of gunmetal grey and inky midnight blue. Pinstripes on wide 90s-inspired trousers were subtly marked, while flyaway parkas used ultralight Korean textiles.
For accessories, Givenchy collaborated with Onitsuka Tiger, one of the oldest shoe brands in Japan, for an exclusive embroidered leather track shoe.
