As Malaysians look to a healthier lifestyle by consuming more plant-based food, our dessert preferences change, too. KL-ites are expanding their healthy diet with plant-based desserts which include ice cream, pancakes and waffles.

Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it – the vegan way? STYLE presents six spots in Kuala Lumpur to get your dessert fix, without the guilt factor.

Fittie Sense, Bangsar

Fittie Sense in Bangsar is popular with health-conscious fitness buffs. The cafe’s dessert special lies in the vegan hummingbird, a plant-based cake baked with soy flour, polenta and olive oil, with pineapple and bananas for a tantalising tangy flavour. Fittie Sense also serves up vegan dessert pies and chia seed smoothie bowls, so you know where to get your fix of indulgence after a good workout.

Kind Kones KL

If you’re feeling sad, eating a tub of vegan ice cream will probably evoke less guilt and more satisfaction than regular ice cream. Kind Kones offers natural vegan ice cream. From assorted chocolate flavours to local favourite Pandan Gula Melaka, this healthy version of ice cream will also satisfy the sweet tooth of non-vegans.

Kind Kones operates at locations across Kuala Lumpur

LN Fortunate Coffee

Waffles are usually made with flour, eggs, butter and refined sugar – none of which are particularly healthy. Thankfully, LN Fortunate Coffee presents scrumptious, fluffy vegan waffles to residents in Kuala Lumpur. The plant-based cafe believes in making healthy eating delicious so give apple berries or matcha waffles a try – you’ll love them.
