When members of the British royal family go on holiday they always attract the attention of the paparazzi. But it doesn't mean they can't have fun in private. And with everyone in quarantine and vacationers postponing travel plans indefinitely, now would be a good time to look back at some of the British royals’ favourite vacation destinations.

From South Africa ️ to Botswana! • What a welcome! The Duke of Sussex has kicked off the next leg of #RoyalTourAfrica by planting trees in Chobe National Park with 200 school children from local primary schools. The Duke planted a baobab, which are severely under threat across Africa, which will live for 1000 years! Each child grew their sapling from seed in a mission to restore the Chobe Forest Reserve. They were all grown in recycled milk tins from the elephant orphanage, using fertilised soil from the orphans’ dung! The park is home to a huge elephant population – more than 17,000 – along with some of the world’s most diverse and vibrant eco-systems. The people, wildlife and whole area rely on the Chobe River to survive, but many species and indigenous trees are sadly now extinct. There is critical need to secure the forest so wildlife have access to the river. The Duke was welcomed by his close friend Dr Mike Chase, Founder of Elephant Without Borders, who has dedicated his life to supporting Botswana’s people and Elephants. ‘If you look after nature, it will look after you’ – The Duke of Sussex The Duke will shortly continue the tour with stops in Angola and Malawi focussing on community, HIV/AIDS and environment. #RoyalVisitBotswana Photo © PA Images

You might have heard about Botswana because it comes after Russia when talking about the largest producer of diamonds in the world (or maybe you didn’t know that). The British royal family visits Botswana for other reasons, though Prince Harry did source the diamond for Meghan's engagement ring here.

In an interview, Prince Harry opens up as to why he loves going to this African country. It was also revealed that Prince Harry brought then-girlfriend Meghan here in 2016 and they returned a year later for her birthday in Meno a Kwena.

Klosters, Switzerland

Which ski resort is widely regarded as Prince Charles' favourite? You're not a true royal follower if you don't know the answer. It's Klosters, of course. According to the Daily Mail, Prince Charles first visited in 1978 and has been going regularly ever since then. He even publicly celebrated 40 years of visiting the ski resort with a cable car saying just that.

It was also in Klosters that Prince William squashed speculations surrounding his relationship with Kate Middleton. The pair were publicly seen cosying up to one another. Needless to say, those speculations were answered.

Mustique, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

The royals are no strangers to the lure of the Caribbean and they do have a long history with the island of Mustique. Princess Margaret built a villa of her own and guests can now rent this villa. It's called Les Jolies Eaux and comes with a personal household staff to boot. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are also attracted to this island and according to Vogue, they were just there last year and stayed in Villa Antilles.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

We have seen photos of Prince Harry with Husein Bolt doing the To Di World pose and the word Jamaica flashing on the prince's shirt. Prince Harry isn't the only one who has a profound love for this country – Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and Prince Charles have all found their way to Montego Bay.

The world-renowned Half Moon Resort is the official home of the British royals while basking under the Jamaican sun. Wouldn't you enjoy it when you're staying in a resort that has an 18-hole championship golf course, the largest award-winning spa oasis in Jamaica and an equestrian centre?

Nevis

Another small island in the Caribbean makes it to the list of the British royals' favourite holiday destinations. Princess Diana found her way to Nevis after her separation from Prince Charles and brought Prince William along. She reportedly stayed in Montpelier Plantation and Bay. In 2016, Prince Harry visited the island and checked up on their outreach programmes which include The Nevis Turtle Group and The Queens Commonwealth Canopy Project.
