Mukesh and Nita Ambani’s 8 most expensive and extravagant purchases: Antilia’s 168 supercars, a US$73 million private jet, vintage Japanese tea sets – and the Mumbai Indians cricket team
The Ambanis do things in style – from Isha’s US$100 million wedding to Anand Piramal, to Nita’s customised lipsticks and Mukesh’s luxury yachts and Boeing Business Jet II
Sure, they say they are humble and like to keep things “real”. But there’s also billions behind the powerful and prestigious Ambani family name. And those billions give Mukesh, wife Nita, and children Isha, Akash and Anant (the shy younger son who somehow shed 100kg in 18 months) access to a smorgasbord of high-end luxury goods that most folks can only dream about.
Here are just eight ways the Ambani family have dipped into their humongous piggy bank and flaunted their uber-rich status for all to see.
Mumbai Indians
Price tag: US$100 million
You know how most people spend time saving up for a ticket to a concert or sports game? Well, the Ambani family certainly don’t have that problem, specially when it comes to cricket. Mukesh and Nita actually own their favourite Indian Premier League (IPL) team, the Mumbai Indians, through the family company, Reliance Industries. The club was created in 2008 and less than 10 years later, it was valued at more than US$100 million. #freeticketsforlife
Isha’s epic wedding
Price tag: US$100 million
So, you’re getting married. Never mind a Beyoncé playlist, how about having Queen B herself at your wedding? Well, that’s exactly what happened when Isha tied the knot with real estate heir Anand Piramal. The week-long extravaganza reportedly dented Mukesh’s bank account by a whopping US$100 million.
Nita’s customised lippy
Price tag: US$54,000
Imagine having lipstick especially made so that it matches your every outfit. That’s how Nita rolls, and – get this – her customised lipsticks reportedly come in bottles made of silver and gold.

Price tag: US$200,000
Nita’s daughter-in-law Shloka Mehta apparently introduced her to the world of teas. Now Nita owns a tea set from one of Japan’s oldest brands, Noritake. The hefty price tag comes in at around US$200,000. Talk about having a brew in style.
Flying in luxury
Price tag: US$73 million
When you’re an Ambani, even first class isn’t good enough – Mukesh owns a Boeing Business Jet II. It acts as a hotel and boardroom for the telecoms mogul who is often on the move for his business meetings. The plane has an executive office, private bedroom suite and kitchen.
Antilia
Price tag: Up to US$2 billion
When you talk about the Ambanis, you can’t neglect to mention their purpose-built, 27-storey home, Antilia – which comes complete with a snow room, ice-cream parlour, three helipads, 168-car garage and 600 staff. Valued at between US$1-2 billion, the house is listed by Forbes as the most expensive property in the world.
Car obsession
Price tag: US$20 million
Six floors of Antilia are dedicated garages for the fleet of 168 cars belonging to the Ambani family. Among the collection is the customised Mercedes-Benz Maybach 62 Nita bought hubby Mukesh for his birthday – which can reach a top speed of 250km/h (155mph) and is valued at almost US$1 million. Other motors in the collection, believed to collectively be worth more than US$20 million, include a BMW 760i, a Bentley Continental Flying Spur and Rolls-Royce Phantom.

When you’re ultra Ambani-rich, then planes and fast cars aren’t the only way to get around. Mukesh owns a yacht that he and his family regularly use to cruise around in. Fitted with a solar glass roof, the water beaut is 58 metres long and 38 metres wide, with three decks, a piano bar, lounge and reading room for guests, estimated to be worth up to US$80 million.
