K-pop singer Sooyoung and 2PM’s Chansung to star in K-drama, ‘So I Married an Anti-fan’
Ex-Girls’ Generation star to play magazine reporter Lee Geun-young, while Chansung is cast as villain in romantic comedy drama now in pre-production
Former Girls’ Generation member Sooyoung is set to play an anti-fan of one of K-pop’s top stars in a new television drama, So I Married an Anti-fan.
The series focuses on K-pop superstar Hoo Joon (played by Choi Tae-joon) and his budding romance with magazine reporter Lee Geun-young (played by Sooyoung).
Airing dates for the romantic comedy drama, which is currently in pre-production, have yet to be confirmed. The cast held its first read-through of the script in late August.
Sooyoung is one of the three members in Girls’ Generation who have not renewed their contracts with SM Town – the umbrella name for recording artists under South Korean entertainment company SM Entertainment. She is now with a different agency to focus on her acting career.
Another confirmed cast member for the drama is Chansung, of veteran K-pop boy band 2PM, who will play the role of JJ, a chaebol (a member of a family-owned conglomerate) and CEO of Supigen Entertainment. This will be his first attempt at playing a villain.

Actor Park Seung-il will play Choi Hee-gun, a reporter who works at the same magazine company as Lee Geun-young.
The drama is based on an internet novel, also called So I Married an Anti-fan, by Kim Eun-jung.
This is not the first remake of the novel.
A Chinese romantic comedy film of the same name, starring a cast made up of both Korean and Chinese actors, was released in 2016.
The lead roles were played by Park Chanyeol of boy band Exo, Yuan Shanshan and Seohyun, who is also a Girls’ Generation member.
The film was directed by Korean director Kim Jae-young.
