Graff buys 13.33ct pink rough diamond for US$8.8 million
The purchase breaks the record per carat price of diamonds from the famous Letseng mine
Graff has acquired a rare 13.33ct pink rough diamond, found in the Letseng mine in Lesotho by Gem Diamonds in February this year. There is a very limited supply of pink diamonds in the market.
Founder and chairman Laurence Graff has bought the Lesotho pink diamond for US$8.75 million, breaking the record per carat price of Letseng diamonds.
The Letseng mine is renowned for yielding many of the world’s most famous diamonds, including the Lesotho Promise, the Letseng Legacy and the Letseng Star.
Graff will be assessing the stone to find out how to best optimise it to create a polished diamond.
