Netflix’s smash international hit La Casa de Papel, aka Money Heist, is a Spanish drama series, fuelled by adrenaline and jaw-dropping twists. The first two parts (the show uses parts instead of seasons) follow a group of criminals who attempt to pull off the greatest heist in history – printing and escaping with €2.4 billion (US$2.6 billion) from the Royal Mint of Spain. In parts three and four, the gang reunites and goes even bigger with a plan to rob the Bank of Spain.

Spoiler alert: part four is packed with more gore and chaos than the previous three parts combined. As its legions of fans are still processing events and the jaw-dropping cliffhanger, here are the burning questions we need answers to as rumours swirl about the confirmation of part five, expected in 2021, as well as some crazy theories.

The mystery of Alicia Sierra and Tatiana

Part three introduced several new characters to the mix, including Berlin’s former wife Tatiana and the sly and manipulative inspector Alicia Sierra. Many fans believe that these two mysterious characters may be connected in some way.

Tatiana only appears in the flashback of her wedding to fan-favourite Berlin, which makes her presence seem insignificant to the plot. But what if she is introduced for a reason – and if she is alive, will she be friend or foe?

Even though they are portrayed by different actresses, some fans predict that Alicia and Tatiana are the same person, as they share similar physical features, while others think they are sisters. Plus, we know that Tatiana is a robber and aware of Berlin’s heist schemes. Could Alicia be in deep undercover as Tatiana, which could explain how she outplayed The Professor, the mastermind behind the gang’s first heist?

For a wilder spin, fans speculate that Alicia is taking revenge on The Professor for letting Berlin die.

Will Alicia Sierra join the gang or take them down?

In the last episode of part four, Alicia betrays the police force and government by exposing all their illegal activities to the press, effectively ending her career and leading to a warrant for her arrest. The episode ends with her on the run and tracking down The Professor’s hideout to hold him at gunpoint. This left us all wondering – is she going to blackmail him, put a bullet in him or switch sides?

The end credits surprised with a different rendition of Bella Ciao, the Italian pro-resistance anthem that has appeared throughout the series – this time Najwa Nimri, who plays Alicia Sierra, sings it. Is this a sneaky Easter egg, signalling her character switching sides? This is very possible, as we know Alicia is not a law-abiding officer.

Will Nairobi return in flashbacks?

Throughout part four, Nairobi continuously suffered. She escaped near-death once, but her luck eventually ran out, and her fate left viewers devastated.

Alba Flores, who plays Nairobi, was filmed delivering an emotional farewell to the rest of the cast, marking an end to her chapter. But questions are still flooding about whether she will return in flashbacks like Berlin, another much loved character. Anything is possible in this series.

Hopefully, she will be back, as we can never get enough of Nairobi’s pumping energy and world-class sass.
