EVENT JAEGER-LECOULTRE REVERSO 85TH ANNIVERSARY GALA
WHERE WAI TAN YUAN, SHANGHAI
HAPPENINGS: Swiss luxury watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrated the 85th anniversary of its Reverso timepiece with a star-studded gala during the Shanghai International Film Festival, on the Wai Tan Yuan heritage site. A constellation of celebrities including Chinese actress Zhao Wei, British actor Ian McKellen and Hong Kong's Jennifer Tse Ting-ting showed up at the event.
Collaborating with the festival for the sixth consecutive year, Jaeger-LeCoultre initiated a charity programme dedicated to the restoration of classic Chinese films. This year, the brand hosted a private screening of the restored 1986 John Woo classic A Better Tomorrow, starring Ti Lung, Chow Yun-fat and Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing. The brand also announced that the 1973 romantic drama Out of the Window would be restored next year.
During the night's charity auction, a limited-edition Reverso One Duetto Moon engraved with Zhao's autograph sold for 330,000 yuan (HK$390,210) to benefit the restoration of classic Chinese films.
