Angry fans want Big Bang K-pop star Seungri kicked out over sexual, financial allegations

They claim South Korean boy band member, 28, took advantage of the group’s name to promote his business and attract investors

Fans of the K-pop group Big Bang want Seungri (above) kicked out of the boy band after facing claims of sexual and financial impropriety, which he denies.

K-pop star Seungri, a member of the boy band Big Bang questioned by police over allegations of sexual and financial misconduct, is facing an angry backlash from fans who want him kicked out of the group

On Saturday, Big Bang fans released a statement on DC Inside, a popular online community, urging YG Entertainment, the agency that manages the band, to remove him.

“We strongly urge that Seungri be kicked out of Big Bang [over the allegations that have] seriously tarnished the images of the group and the agency,” it said.

The statement also referred to the series of allegations about Seungri, 28 – whose real name is Lee Seung-hyun – including that he had directed his staff at the Burning Sun nightclub to provide sexual services to his investors and also embezzled money from business accounts.

The fans' statement also accused him of taking advantage of Big Bang’s name to promote his business and attract investors, and claimed he had treated a member of a K-pop girl group disrespectfully during a television show.

“The truth behind all the allegations will be revealed through the investigation, but the damage has already been done and it seems irreparable,” it said.

“We no longer support Seungri as a Big Bang member and we demand YG Entertainment kick him out.”

Seungri appeared at Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on February 27 for police questioning over the allegations, which he has denied.

Police said they were continuing with their investigations into the claims.

Seungri is expected to begin his compulsory South Korean military service on March 25.
