Apple tipped to release three new iPhones in September

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts new 6.5-inch, 5.8-inch and 6.1-inch models – all with full-screen design and front 3D-sensing cameras like those of iPhone X

With iPhone-related rumours pouring in, we recently learned that Apple could be gearing up to release three iPhones in September.

Looking at Apple’s previous release trends, all signs are pointing to a September release, despite the latest iPhone X going against the established pattern by being released in November.

At present, it is unclear if we will be seeing all-new models or “S” reworks, which have come between model cycles.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo – who has correctly predicted Apple’s moves in the past – predicted in a note that three new iPhone models will be released in September.

Kuo’s note said there will be “6.5-inch and 5.8-inch OLED [organic light-emitting diode] models and a 6.1-inch TFT-LCD [thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal display] model, all equipped with a full-screen design and TrueDepth Camera (front 3D-sensing), as with [the] iPhone X”.

His prediction suggested the potential full elimination of the “home” button and a prevailing edge-to-edge screen design, while the use of advanced OLED [organic light-emitting diode] screens could mean a greater visual experience to go along with the cosmetic changes.

Stay tuned for more information as the release of Apple’s next generation of iPhones nears.

In more tech news, rumours suggest that Apple is working on a virtual reality/augmented reality headset combo with two 8K displays.
