World’s deepest diving pool to open in Poland this autumn — a 45-metre plunge
Deepspot – still being built near Warsaw – will lose its record status within six months when a 50-metre pool opens in Britain
Swimmers in Poland will be able to take the plunge this autumn – literally – with the opening of the world’s deepest diving pool.
The 45-metre (148-foot)-deep pool, which is now being built in Msxczonow, a town 40km (25 miles) southwest of the capital, Warsaw, will open to both beginner and professional divers.
Deepspot, as the pool is called, will be filled with 8,000 cubic metres (282,500 cubic feet) of water – 27 times more water used to fill an ordinary 25-metre long swimming pool.
The pool will feature an underwater viewing tunnel for spectators at a depth of 20 metres.
The pool development will also include conference and training facilities and hotel rooms with views looking into the inside of the pool.
The current world record is held by the 42-metre Y-40 Deep Joy diving pool at the Hotel Terme Millepini in Montegrotto Terme, Padua, in Italy.
The Polish diving pool is being built by Flyspot, a company which runs popular indoor skydiving simulators in Katowice and Mory, near Warsaw.
Once Deepspot opens to the public it will hold the world record for only about six months.
Construction of Britain’s Blue Abyss, a 50-metre deep-sea and space research training and test facility, located near London, is expected to opening early in 2020.
