What: Ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 24, Singapore will light up with moon-viewing parties and beautiful lantern displays.

Gardens by the Bay, for one, will launch lantern displays alongside cultural performances, Chinese craft showcases and a food street.

Another place to visit during the festival: Chinatown!

We’re certain shopping centres will not be bereft of lights, either.

When: All-month long

Where: Various locations in Singapore

2. ‘Ballet Under the Stars’

What: If you missed the first weekend of performances by the Singapore Dance Theatre, then you can catch the second leg, which is dedicated to the late famous ballet choreographer Choo-San Goh.

The company will perform Unknown Territory, Schubert Symphony, and Fives, which are some of the Singaporean’s best works.

When: September 7 to 9, 7.30pm

Where: Fort Canning Green, Canning Rise

3. Shakespeare’s Globe

What: Twelfth Night, The Merchant of Venice, and The Taming of the Shrew – three of Shakespeare’s funniest works, are being performed in the city state by the famed British theatre’s touring group.

For the two final shows on Saturday, September 22, the audience will decide which play gets staged!

When: September 18-22 (7.45pm, with an extra 2.30pm show on both 21 and 22)

Where: School of the Arts, 1 Zubir Said Drive

4. Jimmy Carr

What: The stand-up comedian is bringing his dark, deadpan British humour to the stage, with a lifetime’s worth of his best jokes in tow.

Any fan will know that his jokes are rated 18+, crafted for an open-minded audience and will leave you in stitches.

A limited number of tickets are still available.

When: September 13, 8pm

Where: Kallang Theatre, 1 Stadium Walk

5. ‘Movies by the Beach’ at Sentosa

What: Open-air cinemas – don’t we love them?

This time around, Sentosa Island is screening a handful of films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and the like) on various dates this month, and you can bring the whole family together for an evening of snacks and blockbuster appreciation, pending good weather. You can watch the films for free, but island admission charges apply as usual.

When: Now until September 9, and September 15-16, 7.45pm

Where: Palawan Green, Sentosa Island

Where: Marina Bay Street Circuit and various other locations

7. The Piano Guys
