Yozo Ueda and Anatoly Kazakov bring their expertise from Kyoto and Moscow, Ignis and Silencio are new kids on the block, and Hoi King Heen turns 25

Michelin-starred Rech by Alain Ducasse is celebrating its second birthday with its Coastal Tour de France, with a ‘La Normandie d’Alain Ducasse’ menu.

With a slew of new openings and landmark anniversaries to celebrate, there is no shortage of choice this month.

Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, has found a new home at The Peak. The restaurant still features classic dishes from its sister restaurant in London, and boasts a relaxed environment – including an alfresco area.

New opening: Ignis 

Dining with a side of late-night entertainment is on the table over at (where else?) Lan Kwai Fong. Ignis by Linx is set to be the next to-go spot for those in the mood for dinner, a dance and a DJ. The new nightlife spot spans across two floors, with a spacious lounge and club space on the first floor, and a refined dining environment on the second floor.

New opening: Silencio 

The latest dining spot to open in LKF Tower is an izakaya offering live entertainment. Silencio, the latest restaurant to open from Le Comptoir group, will feature artwork by Tokyo-born Tomoo Gokita, who is known for his neo-expressionism. On the kitchen side, the izakaya will be headed by California native Sean Mell, who has more than 10 years of experience in the kitchens of Nobu, in New York and Hawaii.

Coastal Tour de France at Rech by Alain Ducasse 

Rech by Alain Ducasse is off on a coastal tour of France – and taking us along for the ride. The Michelin-starred restaurant is celebrating its second birthday with its Coastal Tour de France with “La Normandie d’Alain Ducasse” menu, which is available until April 30.

The first leg of the tour takes us to romantic Normandy, in northern France. Highlights of the five-course menu include “Saint Michel” oyster gratinated with cider, Dieppoise-style sole fillet, as well as flambéed crêpes with Calvados, an apple brandy from Normandy.

Hoi King Heen celebrates 25 years 

Hoi King Heen is celebrating its 25th anniversary by reviving six of its signature dishes. Nostalgia is the name of the game, with dishes like crispy fried fish maw and egg white with salted egg yolk appearing on the menu. Other highlights include braised crab claw with lotus root and pomelo skin, which won the GOLD Award from The Best of the Best Culinary Awards in 2005.

Shikigiku welcomes guest chef Ueda from Ankyu

Shikigiku welcomes two Michelin-starred chef Yozo Ueda from Ankyu restaurant in Kyoto from March 7-11. The tiny six-seater restaurant is renowned for its take on kaiseki cuisine since Ueda, who is also the owner, opened it in 2010.

Ueda is known for his attention to detail, and is a master at transforming the simplest ingredients into gastronomic art. He and his Japanese team, will be presenting an eight-course kaiseki lunch (limited to 10 diners) and nine-course kaiseki dinner (limited to 20 diners) during his five-day stay in Hong Kong.

Écriture welcomes guest chef Anatoly Kazakov from Selfie

Two Michelin-starred Écriture is set to host its first collaboration diner of the year with chef Anatoly Kazakov from Selfie restaurant in Moscow. Selfie is ranked 70th on the World’s 100 Best Restaurant list.

During the two-night-only affair (March 21 and 22), diners will be spoiled with a 10-course tasting menu featuring the best of Écriture and Selfie. Highlights of the menu include uni and caviar tart by Écriture and Murmansk halibut with peeled apple and fermented kohlrabi by Selfie. Dinner is set to end on a sweet note with chocolate tart soufflé from Écriture.
