Jaeger-LeCoultre uses augmented reality to charm watch lovers at SIHH 2017
Visitors to the Jaeger-LeCoultre booth get to see virtual watches on their wrists – including this year’s additions to the Rendez-Vous collection
Though known for its consistent innovation, Jaeger-LeCoultre retains the hallmarks of classic watchmaking that pays homage to its heritage.
The brand celebrated the 85th anniverary of Reverso in 2016 with a collaboration with Christian Louboutin, who added his iconic red lining to a designer edition of the Reverso.
Meanwhile, the Rendez-Vous collection, launched in 2012, is distinctly elegant. The collection’s sophistication lies in its understated details, including guilloché and celestial-themed dials.
This year’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) additions to the collection feature new complications for women, including a newly designed moonphase and a chime function.
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s booth at SIHH 2017 featured a screen that enabled visitors to virtually try on their timepieces – an innovative use of augmented reality.
The novelty of the new models lies mostly in their aesthetic offerings, however. The Rendez-Vous Night & Day collection is now available in multiple sizes, materials and colours.
With a 38.2mm case, the Rendez-Vous Night & Day Large gives wearers the ability to change buckles and straps without the use of a tool.
The medium models in the collection introduce yellow gold cases and a moonphase complication. The Rendez-Vous Moon Medium has a diamond-set bezel and is now available in rose gold, while the Night & Day Medium is now available in yellow gold.
The Rendez-Vous Sonatina Large adds a chiming complication, and features the star-shaped Rendez-Vous indicator – a signature of the collection that is also featured in its earlier models. The star is positioned at a specific time, upon which the watch chimes with a single hammer strike.
As in the Rendez-Vous Night & Day, the day and night indicator is at six o’ clock.
Jaeger-LeCoultre is set to release multiple timepieces this year, including additions to the Reverso, Geophysic and Hybris Artistica collections.
