A man who won 6 million yuan (HK$7.5 million) on the lottery in eastern China has yet to see any of the cash and is embroiled in a legal dispute nearly three years after he bought the winning ticket, according to a news website.

Li Yongzhi from Fuyang in Anhui province did not immediately claim the prize in December 2012 after he bought the welfare lottery ticket from a vendor he knew and trusted, Thepaper.cn reported.

The vendor later denied selling him the ticket and had already claimed the cash for himself and a relative.

Li later sued the pair and won, but has yet to receive any cash.

The vendor has turned himself in to the police, but his relative has withdrawn all money from the bank and fled, the report said.

Li has spent 800,000 yuan (HK$997,000) on his lawsuit and lawyer fees.
