A 12-year-old boy had to be rescued in southwest China after sleeping on a ledge five storeys high to escape his father, a video site reported.

When the boy’s father scolded him for being too lazy to get out of bed on Wednesday, the 12-year-old decided to climb out of his fifth-floor window and sleep on a ledge, according to a clip by Pear Video that was filmed by an onlooker.

Wearing yellow pyjamas and lying flat on his back with arms crossed, the small boy fits perfectly on top of the dangerously high window canopy outside his family’s flat in Jiangkou county, Guizhou province.

“His dad is back, maybe he will come down and sleep inside,” a voice behind the camera says over the video, as the boy sits up on the ledge with his back against the building.

Soon afterwards, a fire engine arrived to rescue him.

Using a crane, a firefighter was lifted up to the boy as police watched from windows above. The boy was carried down to safety.
