Five charities to benefit from auction of artisans' contemporary jewellery pieces

After raising over HK$20,000 for the Nhat Hong orphanage in Vietnam last December, Anna Cheng of AME Gallery started online charity Jewels For Good - auctioning off an artisan's contemporary jewellery piece from her gallery to benefit a charity each month.

But with the gallery's first anniversary next month, she will auction off five pieces of jewellery between September 1 to 15 on http://jewels4good.ame-gallery.com.

The five pieces comprise a Karolina Bik tickle necklace, a Mei Lee brooch adorned with a natural baroque pearl, Moya's drop earrings in yellow gold and black diamonds, Salima Thakker's flower earrings in yellow gold and diamonds, and a Tricia Tang set of two bangles.

"It offers me a means to introduce different artists to the public and we donate the proceeds to the cause each designer supports," said Cheng.

"For instance, Karolina Bik would like to donate to a charity that has something to do with animal protection, that's why I chose Hong Kong Dog Rescue for her which she happily agreed."

The other charities are The Jane Goodall Institute, Music for the Growing Mind, Mother's Choice and Art in Hospital.

There will be a launch event at the gallery in Central on Thursday.
