Harris Chan Pak-hei, the creative director of family fashion business Moiselle, did not grow up dreaming to be a designer.

"I wanted to be a doctor, a lawyer or a firefighter when I was little. I watched a lot of TVB soaps and dreamed about becoming one of the heroes," he said when hosting the launch of Moiselle's autumn-winter collection at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

He told guests that it wasn't until he went to study at the London College of Fashion that he realised fashion designing was his passion.

To echo the collection's theme of French aristocracy, a grand horse-drawn carriage was booked to welcome guests at the cocktail event.

Chan's socialite and celebrity friends, including Jade Kwan Sum-yin, Jennifer Tse Ting-ting, Janice Man and Sabrina Ho Chiu-ying, were spotted in the front row.

"My design philosophy is to make clothes that flatter the petite Asian figure, especially details on the shoulder and the waistline," he said.

Models donned about 70 different looks to show on the runway, with flashy sequined gowns, chiffon power suits as well as leather and velvet dresses.

"Fashion and trends change so fast in Hong Kong. Customers are very style-savvy and get bored quickly. For this season, I focus on creating more timeless looks and to highlight the craftsmanship," Chan said.
